You can create personal webpages in your home directory. When you login to a UNIX machine, you are automatically placed in your home directory. You will need to change directories to enter the www directory that is in your home directory. You can do this by typing "cd www" . Then, you can use a text editor to enter or edit your html, such as pico or vi. If, for example, you wanted to create an index page for your personal home page, you would type "pico index.html". Homepage URLs depend on your username. Using the same example as above, the user with the username pinky would have the homepage http://www.physics.unc.edu/~pinky The internet offers many resources to help in using pico, vi, and learning html.
