In order to ensure maximum compatibility with current and future operating systems, the following minimum hardware specifications are given.  These will be updated periodically.  No new hardware should be purchased which does not meet these minimum specs.

 

Windows and Linux workstations

Minimum specs:

  • Pentium 4, Pentium D, Xeon (2.5+ GHz) or AMD Athlon, Sempron (2500 or greater), Opteron
  • 256 MB RAM
  • 40 MB hard disk
  • CD ROM
  • 10/100 network card
  • 15" LCD or 17" CRT
  • Windows license (Win 2000 or XP; Home or Professional) *

Recommended specs:

  • Pentium 4, Pentium D, Xeon (3.0+ GHz) or AMD Athlon, Sempron (2800 or greater), Opteron
  • 1024 MB RAM
  • 120 GB hard drive
  • CD/DVD +/- RW
  • 10/100/1000 network card
  • 19" LCD
  • Windows license (Win 2000 or XP; Home or Professional)*

 


* A Windows license is not required for Linux PCs, however purchasing a Windows license with the PC maximizes future re-purposing of the PC.

 

Printers:

Minimum specs:

  • HP LaserJet with native PostScript support
  • HP JetDirect network interface


Under no circumstances will any inkjet printer be supported by PANIC.
