PANIC makes a wide variety of software available pre-installed on unix and windows computers. Some additional software is available via campus site-license for installation for free or for a nominal fee. A list of this software may be found at https://software.unc.edu/available.php . If you are interested in site-licensed software, please contact PANIC for ordering instructions or more information.
If you believe you need additional software which is not presently available, please follow these suggestions prior to contacting PANIC:
Submit a request for installation of additional software to PANIC only after you have exhausted all of the suggestions above. The requesting faculty member is usually responsible for supplying funds to purchase as many licenses as are needed.
Commercial software installed on Departmental computers without proper registration information and/or documentation (receipts and/or original media) may be removed without notice. Users are encouraged to allow PANIC to track software purchases. If the user declines, the burden of proof falls to the user. |
